This is an ideal role for a junior Tester looking to take the next step up in their career.
The quality assurance tester is an essential role within the technology team at RY. The main purpose of the role is to carry out manual testing of work which has been produced by the wider team. This is to ensure quality throughout projects, enabling RY to deliver work at a consistently high standard.
The role also plays a key part in supporting developers and project managers in ensuring quality of delivery, this can be achieved through helping to define acceptance criteria and definitions of ‘done’. These definitions will be used to benchmark projects against and are key in providing quality at every stage of a project.
Responsibilities include:
Manual testing
- Using previous skills and experience to manually test software and web applications.
- Communicating defects to developers and project management team, providing solutions where appropriate.
- Assessing customer requirements and ensuring that these are fulfilled.
Establishing best practice procedures
- Working with other colleagues to establish procedures, standards and systems, all adhering to best practice ways of working.
- Setting customer service standards across all projects.
- Assessing customer requirements and ensuring that these are fulfilled.
- Gatekeeper of quality
- Determining, negotiating and agreeing on in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications. Ensuring these are adhered to.
Directing objectives to maximise quality across projects.
- Acting as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality, setting the standard for the wider team.
- Knowledge sharing
- Writing reports which help to set internal standards, these may be shared with clients if there is a requirement to do so.
- Recording, analysing and distributing statistical information to the wider team.

Requirements:
- You'll have experience in cross browser testing across a range of clients and projects.
- Proven usage of browser testing tools such as BrowserStack.
- Automated testing experience is beneficial.
- Ability to document and troubleshoot errors.
- Demonstrates accuracy and excellence through attention to detail, always going above and beyond to deliver what’s needed.
- An excellent listener and interpreter of instructions/briefs. Gives colleagues and clients confidence that you’ve understood what’s required.
- Ability to communicate defects to developers, designers and project managers alike.
- You're resourceful, can adapt and always find a way to deliver, even under pressure.
